Leh: A senior Army officer in the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and a soldier were killed in a landslide in Ladakh on Wednesday. According to officials, a massive boulder fell on their vehicle that was part of an Army convoy moving towards Chongtash from Durbuk.
While Lt Col Bhanu Pratap Singh and Lance Dafadar Daljeet Singh were killed on the spot, three officers were injured and have been airlifted to the Army hospital in Leh. Both Lt Col Bhanu Pratap Singh and the Lance Dafadar were from the 14 SINDH HORSE.
The three officers injured in the accident have been identified as Major Mayank Shubham of 14 SINDH HORSE, Major Amit Dixit and Captain Gaurav – both from 60 Armoured. They are now being treated at the 153 General Hospital in Leh.
Efforts started immediately to clear the road and allow other vehicles of the convoy to cross the area.
“GOC, Fire and Fury Corps and All Ranks salute Lieutenant Colonel Bhanu Pratap Singh and Lance Dafadar Daljeet Singh, who made supreme sacrifice in the line of duty in Ladakh on 30 Jul 2025 and offer deep condolences to the bereaved families in this hour of grief,” the Army posted on X.
There was another accident during the day in Kashmir in which a bus, carrying personnel of the Indo-Tibetan Border Police (ITBP) plunged into a river in heavy rainfall. Fortunately, all occupants of the bus were safe. The driver received minor injuries and was moved to hospital.
