Arrest Warrant Issued Against Actor Sonu Sood In ₹10 Lakh Fraud Case

Ludhiana: A court in Punjab has issued an arrest warrant against Bollywood actor Sonu Sood, often called the ‘messiah of the helpless, after his name surfaced in an investigation related to a ₹10 lakh fraud case.

The warrant was issued by Ludhiana Judicial Magistrate Ramanpreet Kaur after the actor skipped summons.

A Ludhiana-based lawyer Rajesh Khanna had lodged a complaint against one Mohit Shukla, alleging that the latter deceived him into investing in a fraudulent Rajika coin scheme. While Sonu’s role in the fraud is yet to be ascertained, according to ANI, he was summoned to testify in court as a witness. The actor, however, repeatedly failed to appear before court during the hearings despite being summoned multiple times, leading to the issuance of the arrest warrant.

The warrant has been sent to  Oshiwara police station, Andheri West, Mumbai, directing it to nab the actor and present him before the court. “Sonu Sood, (S/o, W/o, D/o) resident of R/O H.NO 605/606 Casablanc Apartment, has been duly served with summon(s) or warrant(s) but he/she has failed to attend (absconds and keeps out of the way for the purpose of avoiding service of a summon(s) or warrant(s)). You are hereby ordered to arrest and bring the said Sonu Sood before the Court…,” the ANI reported, quoting the order.

The next hearing for the fraud case is scheduled for Monday, February 10.

The actor is yet to release an official statement in the matter.
