Balasore: A liquor shop owner, who was arrested for having stock of beer with expired dates, attempted to commit suicide in Odisha’s Balasore district on Friday.
As per reports, the Excise officials had conducted a raid on the India Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) shop of Naba Kishore at Patrapada in Balasore town.
While checking the stock inside the licensed shop, they found a huge quantity of beer bottles and cans which had crossed the expiry dates.
The Excise sleuths had seized around 45 cartons of such beer from the shop and arrested Naba in this regard. While he was in custody of the Excise officials, Naba attempted to commit suicide by consuming bleaching powder kept inside the toilet.
However, the Excise staff rushed him to the district headquarters hospital (DHH) in Balasore. His condition was stated to be stable.
