Jagatsinghpur: As many as 10 policemen including a sub inspector of Tirtol police station in Jagatsinghpur district were placed under home isolation after the arrest of an alleged kidnapper from Pune in Maharashtra who tested positive for COVID-19.
According to reports, Dipti Ranjan Malla (28) was accused of kidnapping a minor girl from Tirtol area in 2015 and later marrying her. The couple, who have a three-year-old daughter, first shifted to Bengaluru and then to Pune, The Times of India reported.
Since Malla was arrested from the high-risk state of Maharashtra, he was made to undergo an antigen test. After the result came out positive, the policemen who went to arrest him in Pune were also tested for the virus.
Health Department authorities on Sunday ordered them to stay in home isolation till their test reports came out, The New Indian Express reported.
