Jammu: Even as the National Conference talks of bringing back Article 370, Union Home minister Amit Shah reiterated on Friday that special status to Jammu & Kashmir will never be restored.
Shah released the poll manifesto (Sankalp Patra 2024) of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) here, asserting that Article 370 has become “history” and will never make a comeback.
Taking a dig at the Congress party, Shah said it is silently supporting National Conference’s manifesto, which talks of getting back Article 370.
“I want to tell the nation that Article 370 is history now. It is not part of the Constitution anymore. It will never return and we will not allow it to happen. This is the Article that gave weapons and stones in the hands of the youth and facilitated them to tread the path of terrorism,” said Shah, promising to transform Jammu & Kashmir from a “terrorist hotspot to tourism hotspot.”
The Home Minister asked Rahul Gandhi to clarify Congress’ stand on whether it supported the agenda of National Conference.
Shah arrived here on a two-day visit to kick off BJP’s campaign for the Assembly elections, scheduled to be held in three phases — on September 18, September 25 and October 1.
