Bhubaneswar: The 14thDhauli-Kalinga Mahotsav kick started on the foothills of ancient Dhauli in Bhubaneswar on Friday.
On the inaugural day, Guru Gangadhar Pradhan Smruti Samman 2018 was presented to SK Tamotia, Dean-cum- Director General & Vice Chairman of Bhavans’ Centre for Communication and Mangement; Atulya Mahakud, Lyricist-Actor-Script Writer; Guru Dhaneswar Swain, Eminent Odissi Exponent and Shri Bhagirathi Das, renowned Odissi Bastra Karigara.
The first performance of the evening was presented by ‘Shivangi’ band, an ensemble of eight musicians, which was followed by a Manipuri dance by Priti Patel and group and Anjika School of Manipuri dance, Kolkata which performed on the theme of ‘Turel – Listen to the River.’ The famous Chaau Martial Art Dance was performed by Subhashree Mukherjee & Group and choreographed by Ileana Citaristi.
The Mahotsav is being jointly organised by Department of Tourism, Government of Odisha, Orissa Dance Academy and Art Vision.
Among others, Ashok Chandra Panda, Culture Minister, Mona Sharma, Principal Tourism Secretary, Nitin Jawale, Director Tourism, Satyananda Mishra, President, Orissa Dance Academy, Guru Aruna Mohanty, Secretary, Orissa Dance Academy and Guru Ileana Citaristi, Secretary Art Vision graced the occasion.
