New Delhi: Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) have been going hammer and tongs at each other relentlessly.
AAP has accused the BJP of using central agencies to target them in issues like the Delhi liquor policy case, while the saffron party has not held back in charging the AAP-ruled government in Delhi of being steeped in corruption.
Days after Arvind Kejriwal accused BJP of offering 7 of their MLAs Rs 25 crore each to ‘buy’ them, the Delhi chief minister went a step further on Sunday with a huge claim.
Kejriwal, who has skipped 5 Enforcement Directorate (ED) summons in the liquor policy case, said he is being urged to join BJP if he wants to be left alone.
“They can hatch any conspiracy against us; I am also firm. I am not going to bend. They are asking me to join BJP, then they are going to leave me alone. But I said that I will never go to BJP, I will never join BJP, not at all,” the AAP chief said after laying the foundation stone of a school here.
Kejriwal reiterated that the agencies have been after AAP leaders.
“Manish Sisodia’s fault is that he was building good schools. Satyendra Jain’s fault is that he was getting good hospitals and mohalla clinics built. Had Manish Sisodia not been working for the betterment of school infrastructure, he would not have been arrested. They created all sorts of conspiracies, but couldn’t deter us,” Kerjiwal said about his former Cabinet colleagues who are now behind bars.
Earlier in the day, Delhi Police went to minister Atishi’s house to serve her notice in connection with MLA poaching claims.
In Atishi’s absence, the notice was received by the Delhi Education minister’s Officer on Special Duty (OSD). Atishi has been asked to respond by February 5.
Kejriwal was also been served a similar notice by Delhi Police Crime Branch after a five-hour drama on Saturday and has been asked him to reply within three days.
Police have asked Kejriwal to join the probe and reveal names of AAP MLAs who were allegedly approached by the BJP.
