Ahmedabad: Isudan Gadhvi, a popular broadcast journalist-turned-politician, was on Friday named as the Chief Ministerial face of Aam Aadmi Party in Gujarat.
This was announced by Delhi Chief Minister and AAP chief Arvind Kejriwal. Confident of winning the Gujarat Assembly elections, Kejriwal said that he is not announcing the chief ministerial candidate but the state’s next CM.
Kejriwal said 40-year-old Gadhvi got as many as 73 per cent votes in a poll conducted by the party. The CM candidate was declared on the basis of Gujarat public opinion.
Gadhvi hails from a farmers’ family in Dwarka district’s Pipaliya village and belongs to the other backward classes, which account for 48 per cent of the state’s population.
Gadhvi has been one of Gujarat’s most popular TV journalists and anchors.
Gadhvi is the national general secretary of the Aam Aadmi Party and a member of its national executive. He joined AAP in June 2021. Gadhvi’s induction in AAP was seen a major move to garner support owing to his popularity in Gujarat.
