Bhubaneswar: Severe cyclonic storm Asani has weakened into a cyclonic storm, according to the Meteorological Centre here.
At 5.30 am on Wednesday, Cyclone Asani lay centred about 40 km south of Machilipatnam in Andhra Pradesh. It is likely to move nearly northwards for the next few hours and recurve slowly north northeastwards and move along Machilipatnam, Narsapur, Yanam, Kakinada, Tuni and Visakhapatnam coasts and emerge into westcentral Bay of Bengal off north Andhra Pradesh coast by Wednesday night, the India Meteorological Department (IMD) said.
All schools in Malkangiri district of Odisha will remain closed on Wednesday in view of the cylone.
The cyclone is likely to weaken gradually into a depression by May 12 morning.

Yellow warning: Heavy rainfall (7-11 cm) very likely to occur at one or two places over the districts of Puri, Jagatsinghpur, Cuttack, Kendrapada, Bhadrak and Balasore.
May 13 (8.30 am) to May 14 (8.30 am)
Light to moderate rain or thundershower very likely to occur at a few places over the districts of coastal Odisha, north interior Odisha and at isolated places over south interior districts of Odisha.
