Exploring Trade Opportunities In Odisha: ASEAN Delegation To Attend Business Submit Today

Bhubaneswar: An Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) delegation, comprising heads of missions in India, will participate in a business summit in Odisha capital on Friday and discuss business partnerships with the local chamber of commerce and major business associations and industries of Odisha.

The summit is being organised to further strengthen the trade as well as cultural ties between Odisha and Southeast Asia.

The delegation, which is on a three-day visit to the state, will also meet chief minister Naveen Patnaik in the evening during the concluding session and discuss their trip and participation in Make in Odisha Conclave’22.

Senior diplomats including Ina Hagniningtyas Krisnamurthi, Ambassador of Republic of Indonesia to India, Moe Kyaw Aung, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to India, Bounneme Chouanghom, Ambassador of The Lao People’s Democratic Republic to India, Dato Alaihuddin Mohd Taha, High Commissioner of Brunei Darussalam to India, Amizal Fadzli Rajali, Charge d’affaires, High Commission of Malaysia in India, and Acharapan Yavaprapas, Consul-General, Royal Thai Consulate General, Kolkata are also part of the delegation.

On Thursday, the delegation visited various industrial infrastructure around Bhubaneswar and held discussions with senior officials of the industries department. They were also apprised of the upcoming Make in Odisha conclave to be held from November 30 to December 4.

The delegation asked for more clarity on policy guidelines and discussion with local chambers and women entrepreneurs, official sources said, adding that they also visited various sites of cultural importance including the Sun Temple in Konark and the Raja Rani Temple in Bhubaneswar and attended a cultural programme hosted by the state government.

Notably, Naveen held discussions with the envoys of over 30 countries at a curtain raiser to the Make in Odisha conclave in New Delhi on August 31 and invited them to visit the state to explore the vast opportunities.
