Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government on Monday appointed senior advocate and former Chairman Bar Council of India Ashok Parija as the new advocate general of the state.
He will replace Surya Prasad Misra.
At the age of 23, Parija enrolled as an advocate in the Bar Council of Odisha. He started his practice under former advocate general of Odisha, Bijoy K Mahanti.
Parija was designated as a senior advocate in 2003 and elected as a member to the State Bar Council in March 2008. Later in August, he became member of Bar Council of India. He was elected Chairman of the Bar Council of India in July 2011.
