Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has declared holiday for its offices in Khurda district on the occasion of Ashokastami on Wednesday.
A notification, issued by the office of the Revenue Divisional Commissioner (Central Division), said, “In pursuance of the letter of the Revenue and Disaster Management Department, the RDC has declared local holiday of one day for Khurda district on March 29 on the occasion of Ashokastami.”
As per this notification all government offices in Khurda district will remain closed on Ashokastami day, it added.
It may be noted that Rukuna Rath of Lord Linagaraj is pulled on the Ashokastami day in Bhubaneswar every year. Thousands of devotees from Bhubaneswar and its nearby places congregate at the Linagaraj temple in Old Town to pull the chariot and participate in the festival on the day.
