ASI, 2 Constables Suspended For Escape Of Murder Accused In Odisha’s Rayagada

Rayagada: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police and two constables were suspended after a murder accused escaped from police custody at Kalyansinghpur in Odisha’s Rayagada district.

According to reports, the three were placed under suspension with immediate effect by the Rayagada Superintendent of Police for dereliction of duty on the basis of preliminary inquiry into the escape of the murder accused on Friday.

Rayagada police came under criticism after the youth accused of killing his brother escaped from its custody in Kalyansinghpur block.

The accused, identified as Damburu Pusika (25) of Lama village, escaped from the custody of Kalyansinghpur police on Friday on the pretext of going to the washroom.

The accused escaped when police were preparing to produce him in the local court. A manhunt was also launched to nab the accused.
