Agra (Uttar Pradesh): In an unprecedented incident, the Agra Municipal Corporation has served notices on the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) directing it to pay property tax and water bills for the iconic Taj Mahal.
Sources in the ASI said that they have received two notices from the local municipal corporation directing them to pay an amount of Rs 1 crore towards water tax and one for property tax.
The ASI has been asked to pay around Rs 1.40 lakh as property tax and Rs 1 crore as water tax.
The Superintending Archaeologist (Agra circle) Raj Patel said, “A notice for water tax and one for property tax has been issued. The property tax is around Rs 1.40 lakh and the water tax is around Rs 1 crore”.
