Bhubaneswar: An assistant sub-inspector (ASI) and a home guard have been arrested in Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district for allegedly sexually abusing two minor girls.
Both the accused were posted at Jamda police station.
“They have been booked under various sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. Further investigation in both the cases are being carried out on priority,” said Mayurbhanj SP B Gangadhar.
Police sources said ASI Anand Majhi (39) started living with a 16-year-old girl, who reportedly worked as a maid at his place, after his wife’s death some months ago. He was arrested on the basis of a complaint lodged by the girl’s aunt, claiming that she was a minor.
Home Guard Debendra Patra (35), on the other hand, had allegedly raped a 15-year-old girl from Jharkhand on October 12 on the pretext of curing one of her relatives using ‘black magic’. The purported ‘witch doctor’ took her to a secluded place and raped her. He then told if she disclosed about it anybody, she might die due to his ‘black magic’.
