Nayagarh: Tension gripped Nayagarh town on Friday after family members of a boy, who died at the district headquarters hospital due to snake bite, blocked NH-57 by placing the body on the road and even manhandled an assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police.
According to reports, one Rakesh Swain (12) of Damasahi here was admitted to the hospital in a critical condition this morning. The family resorted to the blockade, alleging medical negligence, when the doctors declared him dead.
When police reached the spot to pacify them, the agitators shoved ASI Nrusingha Panigrahi and tore his shirt.
The hospital authorities, however, rubbished the allegation and said the boy had died before being brought to the hospital.
