ASI Removes Cap On Visitors’ Number To Centrally Protected Monuments

New Delhi: The  Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) has removed the restriction on the number of visitors to its Centrally protected monuments.

The latest communication on the updated SOPs for the Centrally protected monuments/sites, issued by the ASI on Dec 18 to the regional directors and superintending archaeologists, stated that the total number of visitors to be allowed everyday may be decided by the superintending archaeologist with the concurrence of the respective district magistrate.

The SOP further said sale of physical tickets may be resumed where there are problems in QR code and network. Sound and light show may also be resumed, according to a Ministry of Culture release.

Except above modifications, all other provisions specified in the SOP issued on July 2 will remain effective until further order.

The communication also stated that all Centrally protected monuments and sites shall continue to follow the COVID-19 protocols issued by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Ministry of Culture besides any specific orders of the states and district administration.
