ASI Suspended After Video On Taking Bribe Goes Viral In Odisha’s Mayurbhanj

Baripada: An Assistant Sub-Inspector (ASI) of police was suspended after a video of the policeman taking bribe in cash went viral on social media.

As per reports, theft case was filed alleging involvement of five persons was filed at Bisoi police station in the district some time back. Later, one of the accused approached Abdul Matlabi Khan, ASI of the police station to delete his name from the FIR.

As the ASI allegedly demanded bribe for doing the favour, the accused went with the cash to give him a few days back. A video of the ASI receiving the bribe money was uploaded on the social media.

As it led to a hue and cry in the media, Mayurbhanj Superintendent of Police B Gangadhar on Thursday put Khan under suspension. The SP has also ordered an investigation into the incident.

However, the ASI has refuted the allegation against him and claimed that he was innocent.
