Baripada: An ASI was suspended on Tuesday following a complaint that he had allegedly thrashed a minor girl during a helmet checking drive at Baripada in Mayurbhanj district the previous day.
The move came after the victim lodged a complaint against ASI, SK Mahakud, of Sadar police station here.
On Monday, Mahakud and other police personnel were checking motorists for traffic violations. The girl was stopped by them for not wearing helmet. An argument ensued when the cops asked her for fine. Following which, one of the police personnel thrashed the girl.
She was admitted to Raghunathpur hospital for treatment.
