New Delhi: Dominant India crossed the Korean hurdle with ease to book their berth in the final of Asian Champions Trophy hockey tournament.
Having advanced to the semifinals with an all-win record in the six-team round-robin league stage, India overcame Korea 4-1 at China’s Hulunbuir on Monday.
Skipper Harmanpreet Singh scored a brace, Uttam Singh and Jarmanpreet Singh netted one each to suppress the Koreans.
Harmanpreet thus took his tally to 7 goals, most by any player in the tournament. The drag-flick expert was top-scorer in the 2024 Paris Olympics too, helping India claim bronze medal.
India will face hosts China in the summit clash on Tuesday. The hosts prevented an India versus Pakistan final by edging out the latter 2-0 in penalty shootout in the first semifinal after the teams were tied 1-1 in regulation time.
India have scored a staggering 25 goals in 6 matches so far while conceding 5.
Harmanpreet’s men had beaten China 3-0 in their league clash, and will start as favourites in the title clash too.
