Asian Championships: Silver For Odisha Weightlifter Jhili, Dutee Sets New National Record

Doha: Odisha-born Jhili Dalabehera won silver at Asian Weightlifting Championships in Ningbo, China, while Dutee Chand qualified for the women’s 100m semifinal by setting a new national record in the 23rd Asian Athletics Championships at Doha, on Sunday.

Jhilli opened India’s account at the Championships with a lift of 167kg only to be behind Vietnam’s Huyen Thi Vijong in the women’s 45kg category.

Last year, she won bronze at IWF Junior World Weightlifting Championships in the 48kg category.

At Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, Dutee went past to beat her previous best of 11.29s set in Guwahati last year, and finished as the fastest qualifier by clocking 11.28s in the heats.
