New Delhi: India’s Satwik Sairaj Rankireddy, Chirag Shetty beat South Korean pair 21-18, 21-16 to clinch gold in men’s doubles badminton, making history in Hangzhou as this is India’s first ever badminton gold in the Asian Games.
Satwik and Chirag survived the early onslaught from the Koreans in the first game before pulling off one of their trademark comebacks – from 15-18 to clinch the opener. In the second game, they were in control for the most part and closed the proceedings without much fuss, reported Sportstar.
India will look to increase their tally of medals at the Asian Games on Saturday, having already breached the 100-mark.
