Bhubaneswar: Indian sprinter from Odisha Dutee Chand continued her winning streak, storming into the final of the women’s 200 metre at the ongoing Asian Games in Jakarta on Tuesday.
She finished first clocking 23.00 seconds in the semi-final. The final event is scheduled for Wednesday.
After making it to the semi-final, Dutee had said that she was confident of qualifying the race and strongly believed that she would win a medal for the country.
She had qualified for this 200-metre sprint event during the 58thNational Inter-State Senior Athletics Championship in Guwahati in June this year, where she had won the silver medal clocking 23.41 seconds.
The 22-year-old promising star became the second fastest woman in Asia after she won the silver in the 100-metre sprint in 11.32 seconds, missing the gold by 0.02 seconds, on Sunday night.
This is Dutee’s maiden appearance in the Asian Games.
