Asian Games: Historic Gold-Silver In Shooting For Palak-Esha; India Lose Tennis Doubles Final

New Delhi: India completed a historic 1-2 in 10m air pistol as Palak and Esha clinched the gold and silver medals, respectively, in the final, on Day 6 of the ongoing Asian Games 2023 in Hangzhou on Friday.

It was the shooting team, comprising Palak, Esha Singh and Divya Thadigol, which won India’s first medal of the day, clinching an Asian Games silver in women’s 10m air pistol team event. Indian shooters – Aishwary Pratap Singh Tomar, Swapnil Kusale, Akhil Sheoran – again extended the medal tally by winning a gold in men’s 50m rifle 3 positions team event with a new world record.

Tennis stars Saketh Myneni and Ramkumar Ramanathan, however, had to settle for a silver after going down in straight sets in the final. Also, Rohan Bopanna and Rutuja Bhosale could seal bronze after winning their semi-final tie.

So far, India has won 7 gold, 10 silver and 11 bronze medals.

Later in the day, Indian women’s hockey team return to action against Malaysia while world champion boxer Nikhat Zareen will take on Hanan Nassar of Jordan in the women’s 50kg quarterfinals.
