Asian Games: India To Face Japan In Men’s Hockey Final After Odisha’s Amit Rohidas Scores In 5-3 Win

Bhubaneswar: There’s no stopping the Indian men’s hockey team.

Having qualified for the last-four stage with an all-win record and a staggering tally of 58 goals in 5 pool matches, India today saw off South Korea 5-3 in a well-contested semifinal.

On October 6, India will face Japan in the gold-medal clash. The Japanese beat hosts China 3-2 in the second semifinal. India had beaten Japan 4-2 in the pool stage.

Odisha star Amit Rohidas scored from a penalty corner with a powerful a dragflick in the second quarter to hand India a 4-2 advantage at half-time, after Hardik Singh When Mandeep Singh (11th goal of the Games) and Lalit Upadhyay (7th of the competition) both scored in the first quarter,

Jung Man Jae kept the South Koreans in the match with a hat-trick, but the Indians always had their nose in front.

They survived a few nervy moments after Koreans had reduced the deficit to two goals to ultimately run out winners.
