Hangzhou: Nepal’s Dipendra Singh Airee on Wednesday broke Yuvraj Singh’s 16-year-old fastest fifty in T20I cricket record, by reaching the milestone in just 9 balls against Mongolia in Asian Games 2023 at Hangzhou.
Dipendra remained unbeaten on 52 off 10 balls, which included eight sixes. His teammate Kushal Malla, a 19-year-old left-handed batter, struck the fastest-ever T20I hundred in the history of the game, reaching the triple-digit score in just 34 ball. With these outstanding knocks, Nepal became the first team to cross the 300-run mark in T20 with the score card reading 314/3.
The team also hit the most sixes, 26, in a T20 innings, and later won their opener by 273 runs.
Yuvraj had created the record by scoring 50 off 12 balls in the World T20 match against England on September 19, 2007.
