Cuttack: Hundreds of aspirants for sub-inspector posts on Monday gheraoed the office of Odisha Police Headquarters in Odisha’s Cuttack city alleging irregularities in selection process.
The young aspirants staged a protest in front of the office and raised slogans in support of their demand for fresh selection. Alleging irregularities in the sub-inspector recruitment examination 2018-19, they claimed that several candidates had been selected through unfair means.
Questioning why the Odisha Police Recruitment Board was conducting the examination instead of Odisha Staff Selection Commission (OSSC), they said it had given scope to selection through corrupt means.
“There is massive irregularity in sub-inspector recruitment examination 2018-19. For the first time, the cutoff marks for SC, SEBC and UR category stood at 93, 94 and 95 per cent respectively,” Manoj Samantaray, one of the aspirants told a local TV channel.
Later, the protesting aspirants submitted a memorandum to DGP demanding a probe into the matter. They threatened to intensify their agitation, if the state government failed to address their demands.
