Ahead of Maharashtra polls, BJP corporator Ravindra Kharat and three of his family members were reportedly killed by assailants at Jalgaon late on Sunday.
The assailants also killed the son of the BJP leader’s friend and later surrendered before the police.
According to police sources, the attackers entered Kharat’s house and fired at the victims using country-made pistols.
Besides Kharat, the deceased have been identified as brother Sunil (56), sons Premsagar (26) and Rohit (25) and his friend’s son Gajare. The reason behind the attack is yet to be ascertained, the sources added.
