Sambalpur: Cultural Affairs Minister of Assam Naba Kumar Doley visited Noted Assamese writer Lakshminath Bezbaroa’s houses in Sambalpur district on Monday.
Later, the minister accompanied by a four-member team, comprising his media advisor Hrushikesh Goswani, had a meeting with district collector Samarth Verma and discussed conservation of both the properties.
“We discussed the steps to be taken to protect and preserve the heritage property. Government of Odisha and Government of Assam will start a joint venture, regarding the same, after the Assamese delegation meets the Chief Minister tomorrow,” Verma informed.
The team visited Odisha after they came to know that Odisha Government had decided to acquire 2.72 acre of land along with two houses, belonging to Bezbaroa, for construction of a bridge project.
On October 27, Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal had called up his counterpart Naveen Patnaik and requested him not to demolish the houses, respecting the emotions of the people of Assam.
