Guwahati: In a gruesome attack, a student stabbed his teacher to death at a school in Assam’s Sivasagar district on Saturday.
According to police, the class XI student pounced on the teacher, who had reprimanded him for wearing a casual dress, in the classroom when a regular period was on.
The teacher, identified as Rajesh Babu, was attacked with a sharp weapon.
“At around 3.15 pm, a student stabbed a teacher inside the classroom at the school. He was taken to the hospital, but doctors declared him brought dead. We have detained the student,” senior police officer Moidul Islam informed.
A student who witnessed the incident told mediapersons that the accused left the school and returned in casual attire instead of a uniform. When he was entering the classroom, the teacher initially asked him to leave politely. As the student refused to oblige, Babu scolded him sternly.
“Angered by the teacher’s response, the student took out a knife and stabbed the teacher in the head. Our teacher was wounded and bleeding profusely as he fell on the floor,” the witness added.
No one had any idea about the boy carrying a sharp weapon.
