Puri: Rameswari Devi, an elderly woman from Sunitpur village in Assam’s Tezpur district, has decided to donate all her property including land and three houses to Lord Jagannath.
Though it’s not uncommon among devotees to donate jewellery, cash and other immovable assets to their revered lord, Rameswari, as per her own account, felt a connection with Lord Jagannath and she decided to donate all her property after being influenced by the Lord’s aura.
“I came to Puri to donate my land and houses to Lord Jagannath,” said Rameswari.
“Right now, I am staying at a Dharmasala in Puri. After the donation process gets over, the Supreme Lord will be my guardian. I’ll go wherever he sends me,” she added.
“The donation process should get over as soon as possible. If something happens to me, as I am not getting any younger, my relatives will usurp the land,” said an anxious Rameswari.
She urged the temple administration to send their representative to her village from where all the legal process regarding the transfer could be completed, according to local media reports.
The ritual administrator (Niti Prasashak) of Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA), however, has sought a written consent from the woman for the donation before they can proceed with the transfer process.
