Bhubaneswar: Odisha Police have sent out teams to arrest Mayurbhanj MP and Union Minister of State for Tribal Affairs and Jal Shakti Bishweswar Tudu, who is facing charges of assaulting two state government officials in Baripada on January 21.
Police teams were sent to Cuttack and Bhubaneswar on Monday to arrest him.
An eight-member team from Baridada police and forensic experts also visited Tudu’s office, where the alleged assault took place, in Baripada to collect evidence.
Tudu allegedly assaulted District Planning Board Deputy Director Ashwini Mallik and Assistant Director Debashis Mohapatra in his office after losing his temper.
Both officials sustained injuries with one of them fracturing his arm. Tudu has denied the charges.
Meanwhile, the Union Minister has termed entry of police into his office without his permission as ‘unfortunate and condemnable. “Ruling BJD is expressing its frustration over our developmental activities and also its loss of face in Mayurbhanj during the last elections,” he added.
