Cuttack: The Orissa High Court on Tuesday directed the State Police to complete the investigation into the alleged police assault on a lawyer by November 9.
The incident had taken place on August 28 in Cuttack.
Sitting judge of the High Court Justice C R Das will monitor the case being probed by the Investigating Officer. The IO will apprise Justice Das of the status of the probe every day, it added.
The court posted next hearing on the case for November 9.
Meanwhile, the Orissa High Court Bar Association at its general body meeting held later in the day decided to burn the effigy of the Chief Minister at all district bar associations across the state on Wednesday.
Talking to mediapersons after the meeting, president of the Association Srikant Nayak said a meeting of the office-bearers of all bar associations in the state would be convened here on November 1 to decide the future course of action.
He also informed that the High Court Bar is most likely take action against four lawyers—Tahali Charan Nayak, Milan Kanungo, Asim Amitabh Das and Bansidhar Satpathy—of the BJD Legal Front.
