Bhubaneswar: The Assembly elections in 4 states and a Union Territory are set to throw up 3 upsets while the ruling parties will retain the power in 2 states.

As predicted by most of the exit polls, the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC) will retain the power for the third time with a landslide margin despite a strong show by BJP in the election.

Tamil Nadu is set to see a change of guard after 10 years as DMK, led by Stalin, has taken a clear majority putting the ruling AIADMK far behind. In the 234-member House, DMK was leading in 153 seats and AIADMK in 79 seats, according to the latest trends available.

In Kerala, the CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF) is almost sure to wrest the power from Congress-led United Democratic Front (UDF) as it was leading in 89 seats while UDF was ahead in 44 seats in the 140-member Assembly. The BJP-led National Democratic Alliance (NDA) was leading in 1 seat.

BJP, which lost the battle in all the three states, is set to retain the power in Assam and form the government in Union Territory Puducherry. The BJP-led NDA has taken a clear majority by leading in 79 seats while UPA is winning in 46 seats in the election to 126 seats of the Assembly.

In 30-member Puducherry Assembly, the NDA was leading in 15 seats and UPA in 10 and others in 4 seats, according to the latest trend.
