Cuttack: Vigilance arrested an assistant engineer in Angul district for having assets disproportionate to his known sources of income on Thursday.
The Vigilance officials conducted raids on the properties of Chandramani Sahoo, assistant engineer, Rural Works Section, Khamar under R.W Division on Wednesday. The simultaneous raids were conducted on his triple-storey building in Dhenkanal town, flat in Bhubaneswar, houses in Dhenkanal town, house in native village Khandabandha, house of relative in Dhenkanal town, and office room in Talcher.
After search, inventory and further enquiry, the income, expenditure and assets of Sahoo was calculated and he was found in possession of assets disproportionate to the known sources of income to the tune of Rs.1,87,75,459.
As the assistant engineer could not account for the assets satisfactorily, the Vigilance arrested him and registered a case.
