Jharsuguda: Vigilance sleuths on Friday nabbed Rabindra Patra, an assistant executive engineer, posted at Rural Water Supply and Sanitation (RWS&S) office in Odisha’s Jharsuguda, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 50,000.
According to Vigilance sources, Patra had allegedly demanded the illegal gratification from a contractor for facilitating release pending bills for works executed by him.
Patra was caught red-handed and the entire bribe money was seized from him.
Simultaneous searches are currently underway at four locations linked to him to ascertain whether he has accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. A case has also been registered at Rourkela Vigilance police station under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018.
