Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Thursday apprehended Pabitra Kumar Kandi, assistant revenue inspector of Chandanpur RI office in Puri district, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 51,000.
According to a Vigilance release, Kandi had demanded the illegal gratification for submitting enquiry report and to facilitate conversion of agricultural land to homestead (Gharbari) land for issuing RoR (Land Patta). The entire bribe money was recovered from him and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are on at three locations linked to Kandi to ascertain whether he has accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income. A case under Section 7 of Prevention of Corruption (Amendment) Act, 2018, has also been registered.
