Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday apprehended Assistant Revenue Inspector (ARI) of Sorana RI Circle under Chilika Tehsil in Khurda district, Kailash Chandra Behera, while allegedly accepting a bribe of Rs 20,000.
According to an official release, Behera had demanded the illegal gratification from a functionary of Chilika Adrabhumi Sangrakshyana of Sorana for furnishing favourable reports to facilitate the process of getting land under Vasundhara Yojana, the scheme meant for landless people.
The entire bribe money was recovered from him and seized.
Following the trap, simultaneous searches are on at two locations linked to Behera to ascertained whether he has accumulated assets disproportionate to his known sources of income.
The release further stated that Behera was earlier arrested by Odisha Vigilance in Bhubaneswar in connection with a Rs 5,000 bribery case.
