Bhubaneswar: Jindal Steel & Power (JSP), TP Central Odisha Distribution Limited (TPCODL) and Smile Foundation was recently conferred with ASSOCHAM Odisha CSR and Sustainability Excellence Award 2024.
Smile Foundation won the award in Health and Wellness category. “The award acknowledges the tireless efforts of our dedicated health team on the ground,” said Co-founder & Executive Trustee of Smile Foundation Santanu Mishra.
Smile Foundation’s healthcare programme include mobile medical units, tele-medicine centres, static clinics, and multi-speciality health camps. It has a total 91 operational mobile medical units, 10 mobile telemedicine units, four mobile dental units and three static clinics operational in 73 districts (with 27 aspirational districts) across 16 states of India. During the year, 1.06 million individuals benefitted at their doorsteps that included 75 per cent children and women.
The JSP was conferred the award in recognition of its outstanding contribution to the promotion and development of community sports. “We are striving consistently to make Indian sports arenas future-ready. This award showcases JSP’s commitment to fostering a culture of sports and physical fitness among youths in rural areas, thus making a positive impact on the well-being and overall growth of the community,” said Chairperson of JSP Foundation Shallu Jindal.
JSP, through its social arm, JSP Foundation, has been promoting various sports, including hockey, wushu, Kabaddi, football, archery, and others, in rural tribal areas of Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Jharkhand.
Similarly, TPCODL, a joint venture of Tata Power and the Government of Odisha, won the award in the Sustainability Practices Innovator category.
“This award highlights our strong commitment to sustainability and community development. Initiatives such as ‘Samriddhi’ are designed to empower local artisans and advance eco-friendly practices, thereby supporting the overall growth and sustainability of the region,” said CEO, TPCODL, Arvind Singh after receiving the award from Minister of State Sampad Chandra Swain.
At the event, TPCODL showcased Pattachitra-Palm leaf carvings and Dhokra metal crafts, created by local artisans and craftsmen trained under its ‘Samriddhi’ programme.
