Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Vigilance sleuths on Friday apprehended Snehalata Mohanty, assistant fisheries officer (AFO), Naktideul, in Sambalpur district while allegedly accepting Rs 20,000 bribe.
According to an official release, she had demanded the illegal gratification in an unnamed signed bank cheque from an Self Help Group for facilitating release of the subsidy amount under the scheme, ‘Carp Grow-out in GP Tanks by WSHGS’, in its favour.
“The tainted bank cheque and connected documents were recovered from Mohanty and seized,” it further said, adding that simultaneous searches are on at two locations linked to the accused to ascertain whether she had accumulated assets disproportionate to her known sources of income.
