Bhubaneswar: Kalinga Institute of Industrial Technology (KIIT), Bhubaneswar, has topped Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements (ARIIA) 2020 in the ‘Private or Self-Financed Universities’ category.
Last year, the institute had bagged the second position.
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT), Madras, has emerged as the topper in the ‘Best Centrally Funded Institution’ category for the second consecutive year.
The ranking was announced on Tuesday by Vice-President Venkaiah Naidu.
“Mere confidence will not suffice. We need to be self-reliant. For self-reliance, we need innovation. Greater emphasis is given to promote a knowledgeable society. The culture of innovation and entrepreneurship among students will make them out-of-the-box thinkers. They will be job creators and not job thinkers,” he said while addressing a virtual ceremony.
For the first time, ARIIA 2020 is having a special prize category for higher educational institutions exclusively for women. The other five categories are — centrally-funded institutions, state-funded universities, state-funded autonomous institutions, private/deemed universities and private institutions.
