Balasore: An attempt to loot cash from an ATM machine of State Bank of India (SBI) situated near Balasore railway station was foiled by Sahadevkhunta police late on Sunday.

The accused have been identified as Sudev Ray (25) and Mithun Singh (20) of West Bengal.

A number of ATM cards, train and flight tickets were recovered from them.

The incident took place at around 2 am on Sunday when a train passenger noticed the duo equipped with gas cutters and other equipment broke into the ATM kiosk and immediately alerted the police about the loot bid.

Police rushed to the spot and nabbed the looters.

The police are in process to find out whether the two are involved in any other such crimes after coming to know that two or three more persons are involved in the racket.

On July 4, as many as eleven ATM looters were nabbed by police in Rourkela.

Those arrested hail from Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Jharkhand and West Bengal.

Three cars, cash to the tune of Rs 4 lakh, more than 50 stolen ATM cards and a swipe machine were seized from the looters’ possession.
