Bhadrak: Locals of Dobal Bazaar under Bhandaripokhari tehsil in Odisha’s Bhadrak district foiled the attempt of a youth to loot cash from Indicash ATM counter late on Saturday night.
Hearing the noise, some locals staying nearby rushed to the spot and nabbed the youth while he was trying to break open the ATM with a crowbar. After a severe thrashing, they later handed him over to the Dhamnagar police.
The accused has been identified as a resident of Jajpur district. We have begun investigation into the matter and interrogation of the youth is on, police said.
In another incident, some unidentified miscreants looted cash from an ATM counter State Bank of India (SBI) located at Dumerta under Bandhamunda police limits in Rourkela in Sundargarh district late on Friday night.
Preliminary investigation has revealed that the miscreants had used crowbar to break open the machine.
