Malkangiri: Unidentified miscreants broke an ATM machine of State Bank of India (SBI) at the Old Medical Campus in Malkangiri district late on Saturday, but failed to steal cash from it.
The matter came to light this morning after a few locals spotted the half-broken kiosk and informed the bank officials, who later lodged a police complaint.
According to police sources, the looters had disconnected the wires of the CCTV cameras installed inside the kiosk, but failed to break open the drawer of the machine where cash was stocked.
A similar ATM loot attempt was reported at Khandagiri in Bhubaneswar on October 10, when a group of miscreants equipped with gas cutters had targeted a kiosk. They fled the spot on seeing a PCR van.
