‘ATMA’ To Scan Passengers At Bhubaneswar Rly Station

Bhubaneswar: With an aim to to prevent transmission of COVID-19 while ensuring effective ticket checking system and safe screening of bonafide passengers at the railway station, an Automatic Ticket Checking and Managing Access (ATMA) system has been installed at Bhubaneswar railway station.

Bhubaneswar station is the third in Odisha to get the facility which has previously been installed in Titilagarh and Sambalpur railway station, said sources.

The innovative machine screens the human body temperature of the passengers, whether they are wearing masks, scans ID proof as well as the PNR of the ticket besides ensuring social distancing of passengers and railway staff.

A bar code scanner will scan QR code of IRCTC based train tickets, a temperature scanner will measure body temperature while entering the station and a camera which will check if a passenger is masked or not.

It comes with a two-way mike system to guide the railway passengers by ticket checking staff sitting and monitoring from inside the cabin

This system was provided by Paradeep Phosphate Limited (PPL), Bhubaneswar under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) scheme at Bhubaneswar railway station.

With gradual opening of train services and movement of people, the ECOR plans to install two more such ATMA systems at Puri railway station by Paradeep Phosphates Limited (PPL) and one at Jajpur-Keonjhar Road railway station by Visa Steel Limited, Kalinga Nagar, Jajpur.
