New Delhi: India have registered their protest against a string of attacks on the Sikh minority, including the killing of a Sikh man in Pakistan’s Peshawar last week.
A senior Pakistani diplomat was summoned on Monday to the External Affairs Ministry to lodge the protest, Hindustan Times reported.
There have been four cases of attacks on the Sikh minority in Pakistan between April and June.
Two days ago, one Manmohan Singh was shot dead by unidentified armed men in Yakatoot area of Peshawar, the capital of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province in northwest Pakistan, according to reports in Pakistani media.
A day earlier, a Sikh shopkeeper sustained injuries when unidentified armed men opened fired in the same area.
The Islamic State claimed responsibility for Manmohan’s killing, and the attack on the shopkeeper.
The militant Islamist terrorist group said in a statement that Manmohan was a follower of ‘polytheistic’ Sikh religion.
