Bhubaneswar: The COVID-19 toll in Odisha touched 7,969 on Monday with 68 more deaths being confirmed in the past 24 hours.
Cuttack district recorded the highest 22 fatalities, followed by Angul (11) and Jagatsinghpur (8). Among the deceased is a two-month-old baby girl of Khurda district.
With this, the number of children and adolescents who lost their lives to COVID during the second wave in the state has touched 37. Thirteen children in the age group of 0-18 years have died due to the deadly disease between August 10 and 31.
Odisha has so far seen 2067 deaths due to the disease this month. While 660 deaths were reported in May, the number swelled to 1,272 in June and it rose further to 1,884 in July.

15. A 75 years old male of Balasore District who was also suffering from Diabetes Mellitus, Hypertension & Mantle Cell Lymphoma on Chemotherapy.

The Health Department stated that this list does not reflect deaths occurring on a particular day, instead gives of those for which audit process has been completed and the cause of death has been identified as COVID-19.
