Chennai: Like several overseas cricketers, David Warner’s favourite country is India.

The senior Australian pro has been a regular in the IPL for a decade and a half, and led Sunrisers Hyderabad to their lone triumph in 2016.

The 37-year-old opener, who has often posted videos of him trying dance moves and songs from popular Indian movies on social media, showed his humanitarian face recently by sharing his concern for those affected by the devastating floods in Chennai.

In a heartfelt message on Instagram, Warner appealed to everyone to prioritise safety and appealed for collective efforts to provide assistance to those affected by the natural calamity.

Warner shared a video which shows the widespread flooding in Chennai, challenging conditions faced by residents and relentless rescue operations.

“I’m deeply concerned about the ongoing floods affecting many areas in Chennai. My thoughts are with all those who are impacted by this natural disaster. It’s important for everyone to stay safe, seek higher ground if necessary. If you’re in a position to help, please consider supporting relief efforts or offering assistance to those in need. Let’s come together to support where we can,” he wrote.

Warner’s post has garnered over 12.4 million views and reactions, and counting. Most netizens thanked Warner for showing his deep concern and urging people to help.

Cyclone Michaung has left a trail of destruction in Tamil Nadu and its capital city.

Many areas in the city are still under water for the fourth straight day, there’s no electricity in several pockets and thousands are in relief camps.

The video has garnered over 12.4 million views and reactions. People thanked Warner for acknowledging and amplifying the grave situation in Chennai.

David Warner is a member of the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL and he regularly shares reels with his family dancing to songs from South films.
