Bhubaneswar: Australia has agreed to extend its cooperation to Odisha government in developing sports infrastructure, particularly for hockey, in the state.
Participating in a video-conference with chief minister Naveen Patnaik on Tuesday, Australia high commissioner Barry O’Farrel AO highly appreciated the efforts of the state government in promoting Indian hockey team.
O’Farrel accepted the proposal of Naveen for extending his country’s support for development of sports infrastructure, training of sportspersons and promotion of hockey in Odisha. Naveen also highly praised the Australian team during its visit to Bhubaneswar to participate in the Hockey World Cup.
Besides sports, Naveen and the high commissioner also discussed to further strengthen the cooperation between Australia and Odisha in other sectors like trade, technological skills and mining.
