Tangi: An auto-rickshaw driver was hacked to death by unidentified miscreants at Mukteswar Sahi in Sundarpur village of Khurda district late on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Bulu Lenka.
According to information, two unidentified men barged into Lenka’s house, attacked him with a bhujali (sharp-edged weapon) and fled the place soon after committing the crime.
Hearing Lenka’s screams, neighbours rushed to the spot and saw him lying in a pool of blood. They immediately alerted the police, who seized the body and sent it for autopsy.
Though the exact reason behind the murder is not yet known, locals suspect it to be the fallout of an old rivalry.
However, no arrest or detention have so far been made in this connection.
